Most LS builds don’t fail because of bad parts or poor tuning—they fail before the engine ever gets assembled. Poor planning, unrealistic goals, and overlooked fundamentals are the real killers. Here are the 10 biggest mistakes people make before starting an LS build, and how to avoid them.

Saying “I just want a fun LS build” is not a plan. Without a defined goal, people end up with:

  • Fuel systems that can’t keep up

Fix: Decide upfront whether the engine is for cruising, daily driving, drag racing, boost, towing, or a mix. Every part choice depends on this decision.
